Today vawendy dropped my glasses into a lake (I did find them), but that's not really where the story starts or ends. Bad things supposedly happen in threes. (You know I definitely adore you, Wendy). =)...Actually, I will wait to tell the whole story until she can post photos from our trip. But this is just me starting the thread for now.

In the meantime, I want to hear some stories about other DPC photowalks and meetups. Does anyone have anything funny to share about meeting other DPCers?????

Nothing really funny, but mildly humorous perhaps. Cory enjoys going where he shouldn't. We stopped at this new bridge that was being built in Dallas and he climbed down into the maintenance space inside. Turned out there were some workers inside, even though it was the weekend, and they promptly chased him out. He had fun.

Alanfreed nearly killed my new Powershot G11 with a spilled drink.(But, hey it was a Superbowl party!)

Several of us went to Shreveport to meet Kawesttex for the Mardi Gras. While waiting for the parade, I was sitting in a lawn chair that Ken had brought and it collapsed on me, getting stuck on my big butt. Someone took advantage of the photo op before helping me up, but I have not seen it. Might have been my wife, and if so, I'll have the photo up later on.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, and before I read the invitation to share other stories, I knew this was going to be part of the conversation :) Moral to the story: Don't let me drink beer while I'm near your camera...

Let's see. We should be able to come up with some stories involving Alanfreed at DPC get-togethers. There was the time at Ricketts Glen that he locked his keys in the car. He called his wife and had her hit the clicker over the cell phone to see if that would unlock the door. Eventually, NikonJeb had to use his super strength to bend back the door frame far enough to get a coat hanger(?) in to unlock it.

Or the time Alan grilled the burgers at the Pittsburg GTG and sent JaredWickerham to the hospital with food poisoning.

Seriously!!! People... do you really think it's my fault?

I ask you -- how many of you would trust me with your glasses?

Don't you think it was rather foolish of her? :P

Can't post pictures for a little while -- will do it later tonight, though. :)

Some years ago I wandered into the local library to use the Internet computers. There were only three terminals, one off by itself and two side by side. Sitting at one of these computers, staring intently at the screen, was a big military-looking guy who sure wasn't a regular. I logged onto my terminal and then sneaked a look at what buddy was doing. He was looking at these amazing images, then clicking on a number at the bottom of each image.

Of course, being no slouch in the noticing-what-the-guy/gal-at-the-next-computer-is-up-to, buddy quickly noticed that I was peeking over his shoulder. So he invited me to take a look, and showed me this site called dpc.

Buddy, btw, is known and loved by us all as RayEthier. I believe he was voting on a Holy Images challenge, and he showed me several site faves, including Doomwatch (RIP Baldrick). I was blown away and wanted in. That night, I went home and set a house on fire, shot it with my Samsung 2.01mp Digimax, and entered it for Heat.

Now, several years later, I am one of the wandering doomed dpcers, and Ray and I are still good friends, even though we don't see each other enough, and he never did get me to switch to Canon! :-)

I would, as long as they are kept flowing with wine :-)

Haha, I told her she would owe me a wine tour for the next challenge if we didn't find them. =P

A group of us came close to getting our boat stuck in a narrow canyon on Lake Powell...

We only had about an inch to spare on either side and we had to slowly "walk" the boat through with our hands on the canyon walls.

Nikolai1024 used to have a video from up on a cliff of me driving the boat pretty fast through the meandering, narrow canyons. That was pretty exciting!

Well, you have to come back to TX again and stay longer...preferably not during our winter so I can attend the festivities!

There was the time when at a GTG in Golden Gate Park, Japanese Tea Garden,
Rasai decided to annoy photograph the koi. He got some
pretty good pictures, and drew a crowd, too.

Just look at those fish pose!

Ok... first she tells you that I lost her glasses.

Now she's complaining about a few... just a few... mosquito bites.

It's not like we went to a swamp.

Well.... I guess we did...

Without spray...

Swarms of mosquitoes...

and more swarms...

It's not like she got lot of bites... well.... maybe... just a few:

Yes, yes I do... :) Love that pic too! :) (Please note that while I was certainly pushing it a bit further, the entire bridge was off-limits and Spiffy was with me up until the ladder bit...) LOL!

All the more reason to invite me to GTGs. You never know what kind of stupid thing I'll do next...

I just saw Jared a couple weekends ago at a Steelers game... and he still has a knack for reminding me about the hospital incident.
