I've always been a fan of the old Northgate keyboards...loved the layout, loved the feel. Solid construction. Alas, all good things eventually come to an end.
After trying some expensive northgate "work-alikes", I finally gave up (the last one I had was pretty good, but didn't last).
In the last year, I actually managed to adapt to a HP Wireless keyboard that came with one of my computers (well, I probably paid a bit for it...) I grew to like the feel, even though it didn't have my ideal layout.
But it just failed. They just don't make things like they used to...my Northgate keyboards survived heavy use for 10+ years.
Anyway, here are my needs:
1) Good feel. I spend a lot of time at the computer, and I'm more or less a touch typist (never trained, but I use the computer so much, my fingers just know where everything is)
2) MUST have: numeric keypad with Arrows and Home/End/Pgup/PgDown as usual. I don't care for the in between T arrows and never use them. Drove me mad while I had a Mac...
3) Wireless is ok, especially if the battery life is good.
4) I liked having the mute and volume buttons on the HP keyboard; that would be great. Not required, but would be nice.
Anyway, I've been looking through the Amazon reviews, but they always seem to have incredibly diverse opinions--Greatest Keyboard Ever / Piece of Crap.
So show me one you love!
