AKA: Free study.
Not really.
Ideally, this would be a challenge that causes members to think about and try to exemplify their own styles. |

I think that was done in january 2010. ( or was it 09?)
Anyway, I know it was a january because it's the last time I saw my bluebirds. :( |

Hey, good memory!
"Comments on challenge entries sometimes offer guesses as to who the photographer might be - let's have some fun with this. Whether it be distinctive subject matter, technique, post-processing or a combination of all three, reflect on your own work and submit an image that tries to communicate your 'signature style'." |

Yup. That was fun. Only time I've entered a splash shot. Not my style, but doing it with a shoehorn is.

You should have entered a grog shot with a shoehorn for a nose in the male portrait challenge! :) |

I wish I could figure out what my style is. |

There was a time where I would have been super excited about this. But the last three times I entered something with "my style" they barely scratched 5.2s |

Wait.... so people would have to guess who you were? And vote on if you matched your style. Seems impossible.

yes, it does. actually the votes weren't so important as was the guessing fun. I THINK the photos were judged on their own merits, possibly with a little mercy thrown in. |

That would be impossible. I think the idea is to create something in your style. |

I liked that challenge. It spawned my first ribbon and highest scoring entry to date. |

Free Study scoring; Guessing comments almost as a side challenge. |

That probably would be very difficult for me, since I have many styles... and I am not bragging, they are not very good but I do almost every kind of photography... almost every kind! |
