Ok, got an email from the local photography group letting us know

Amazon has Lightroom 3 52% off right now. This might be one of those quick 24 hour deals, so just in case anyone was thinking about it.
$144.99, shipping free with Super Saver. If I had a job, I'd nab it!!!

Anyway, thought I'd share.

Workflow is not for me. I had headaches just saving/moving files from one folder to another. You'll need a plug-in just to create a border.

Workflow is best suited for wedding photographers. It's got some nice B&W presets.

I think I like Elements better than LR3.

I got the student/teacher edition for $55.

I use LR3 for my RAW conversion it leaves PSE8 in the dust, LR3 is more fluid in RAW conversion...and I'm learning alot of "tricks" that LR3 has that Elements just doesn't have. Here are the strong points for me in LR3 1) GOOD selective color (NOT just hue/saturation, actual color channels) 2) Lens Distortion 3) Shadows/Highlights 4) figuring out the healing brush/cloning tool, it rocks, 5) the "free" pre-sets are really cool 6) brushes - presently trying to learn ...but I always (at present) finish/move my pictures to PSE8 1) for my plug-ins (which I could move and will move eventually to LR), 2) Resizing (I think you can do this in LR but haven't discovered it yet) 3) Cloning/Healing brush has better "finishing" capabilities (movement) in PSE8 and of course Elements has the borders...this is why I finish in that program.
