Too bad I made this last week!
Is this what the expert editing implies?? Or will there be more serious portraits? |

That would be perfect! And it's nicely done, too! |

Very nice work and yes, I think just the sort of thing that Expert Editing will bring out. There will be some straight up portraits too but a well done needed-expert- editing-to-create-it entry will win out I suspect. |

Lol, what is with all of these exclusive either/or challenges this week. Very strange.
I am a tiny bit disappointed that its Expert editing, makes it a lot harder for me to score well because I am aweful at fancy photoshop stuff.
Still, I do have some ideas floating around |

I am hoping to see some truly outrageous images. Expertly done, of course. |

Might need to get out your "congratz Christophe" thing out and ready... Just saying... |

The expert part is good for changing backgrounds. Of course, you still need to shoot the background, but... |

I hadn't realized they were expert editing. That brings a new twist to it. The gears are turning...

Sorry. . .had to resize a good pic. I love to do portraits like the following in Photoshop for family friends. . .but I think I need to notch up the creativity to get a chance here. LOL.

This will be my first "expert editing" challenge since becoming a full fledged member. I want to brush up on my rules.
In gyaban's awesome image,
he mentioned using the "difference clouds" tool for the fire. Isn't that considered graphics or clip art? |

Gosh, I hope not! Kind of a wasted challenge for using the Expert ruleset. Perhaps it will give more flexibility to swap out backgrounds and things like that, but really, a portrait is a portrait. Wacko stuff like this will get a very low vote from me. |

Wacko?
Brilliant.
Just goes to show there's more than one way to look at a horse race, (erm) or an expert photographic challenge.

Don't worry, his low votes will be neutralized by my high ones. I love the wacko stuff. This one is already faved.

I don't get it... A portrait is definitely a portrait. And this definitely fits the definition of a portrait. It's interesting and well done -- would have scored high from me. :) |

A hand placed on a neck is a photography portrait?! Great fun for Worth1000 or something (digital art and all that), but not something I'd consider a real portrait photo. |

Well, I suppose I will end up getting at least one low vote on this one. :-D
Don't worry, I'll try to be more creative...and less identifiable.
FWIW, I know it's over the top, but it's my first expert editing challenge. I'm going to enjoy being over the top! |

It was suggested to me a few days ago that I ought to bring back the shoehorn awards for humorous entries. I think this challenge is the perfect time to reintroduce them.

Bring on the wacko stuff!

You need to go hand out some for the "TimeIII" challenge. I made some funny ass comments if I do say so myself !

Is there any point of entering a standard portrait that has not been heavily (expertly) processed? |

Heh! Is there any point to entering a challenge at all??
But yes, some people don't like expert editing and would prefer seeing 'normal' portraits. Some will use expert editing in ways which don't look "expert" at all. If you like the subject of the challenge and want to shoot for it, please do so! |

The rule about graphic and cliparts is about stuff you didn't create yourself, such as downloaded brushes or stock images. As long as you create it by yourself (within the challenge dates of course), you are ok. In fact, some entries in previous expert editing challenges contain major parts that have been totally computer generated. It's ok by the rules, but the Truth beholders will vote such entry low ;)

I submitted a basic edited portrait into the last Expert edit challenge and scored a 5.7, and also got a comment asking why I didn't do expert editing.
I mean, 5.7 isn't a super amazing score or anything, but its not like it got hammered either |
