I live in Canada and I'm going to Oshkosh next week. I would love to buy a new 70-200 f4L lens. I Canada is cost $826 including 15%tax in US dollars.

I will be close to Milwaukee. Could anyone suggest a good shop to visit? I.e does walmart carry lenses at reasonable prices?

Hi Are,
I live in the Milwaukee area, and I mail order all my lenses. Sad to say, there are no competitive shops here.
There is, however, one very good shop in the town of Kaukauna (near Green Bay. It's BadgerGraphic Sales. Their website is

//www.badgergraphic.com/

They get very high marks for customer service. I have not bought from them personally, since I would need to drive two hours and pay sales tax, however that will probably change in the near future, perhaps next week!
What days are you going to Oshkosh? I am planning on at least one day up there, prolly Friday and/or Saturday.

Wal-Mart carries no lenses. I don't think I have even seen a film SLR ever on display.

A number of malls may have a Ritz Camera shop in them. Depending on the 'level' of mall, the Ritz Camera shop might have the lense you are looking for. Level of mall meaning High-End Boutique, Middling or Low-end. The High End Mall Ritz Camera shop in my area carries the Canon Speedlight Flashes and a number of Canon Lenses. The Middling Mall Ritz Camera shop, closer to my house, doesn't have anything nearly that 'cool'. (Per the guy behind the counter.)

Your best bet would be to check www.excite.com's Yellow Pages for the area you will be in. You might find a handful of small specialty camera shops. Those should carry what you are looking for. However, you may want to call them and get their hours...

In my area, Detroit Michigan, there are only 3 or 4 small camera shops that I am aware of. One of them has some strange hours of operation, open 9 to 9 on Mon and Thur, open 9 to 6 Tues, Wed and Fri. I would love to head into them, but their hours of operation are hard to work my schedule around.
