I noticed I tied with the third place in the voting for the July open challenge. I'm not complaining, third was a fantastic shot, but what is the tie breaker? |

Contact the Admins & Site Council under the Help link. In the past, they have awarded dual ribbons in the case of a tie score with the same number of votes.
Congrats on your ribbon! |

I̢۪m not sure but it possibly comes down to how it was rounded out. For example, 3rd may have been 7.14473 and yours 7.14468 (haven̢۪t got time right now to do the maths). |

with the same number of votes, its safe to assume it is a perfect tie. |

It may well be, however, as Abra pointed out. . .mathematically speaking you could have different figures after the 4th decimal. . .but it's certainly worth checking into.

That is not possible. Both have the same score and the same vote total:
7.1447 * 159 votes = 1136 "points"
one less point - 1135 points / 159 votes = 7.1384
one more point - 1137 points / 159 votes = 7.1509
It is a flat footed tie and by tomorrow bigskyeye will have a yellow ribbon in his profile |

You are totally right. I did not realize that four decimals was enough to clear to the second decimal without variance on the rest of the number. Thanks for the correction.

Hey, admins/SC!
Why doesn't bigskyeye have his ribbon yet? |

This happened to me once for a red ribbon in the Natural Light Portrait challenge
The image that was entered first was ranked above the other one.
When the challenge rolled over, I had the red and librodo had the yellow even though our scores were identical. I put in a ticket and Langdon correctly awarded 2 red ribbons. No yellow was awarded for that challenge.
I am sure that 2 yellows will be awarded in this case giving us the rare 4 ribbon challenge.

He really needs to submit a ticket under Help>Contact Us. It should go under the Administrative Inquiry category, since Langdon is the only one who can fix this.
