That was useful, but on this chart:

for the 24-70 f/2.8, what do the 0.0 - 1.0 mean down the left hand side?
The bottom 0-20 is explained in the glossary item, but these other measurements?

The vertical (left-hand) axis is the MTF value. a value of 1.0 means that the stripes were resolved at 100% contrast, a value of 0.0 means the contrast was zero, in other owrds, the stripes were not resolved at all.
Thus, an ideal MTF chart has all the plots running from left to right along the very top of the graph.
