I know this is a digital photography site, but my favorite camera is an old 1936 Contax II, and its shutter has come unhinged. I can't find anyone in New Mexico to repair it, and am wondering if anyone knows of a place in the States that could repair this.

Thanks

I recently sent a lens off to Precision Camera for repair. Not gotten it back yet, but the price is fair. Not sure if they could fix something like that, but maybe they can.

Don't know if this helps, but might. There is another guy I will look for as well with much experience in early camera repairs.
Repair idea

I called Precision, and they don't repair Contax cameras. Alas, thanks for the tip though!

The repair idea might prove helpful-- maybe not for this specific instance, but in general will be good to have on hand.

You might try posting up over at Rangefinderforum.com Here is an old thread on repairing a Contax II.

Man, the photo in the section titled "Professional Photography Repair Services" looks an awful lot like our own Skip.

Another suggestion

Give these guys a call. (They even carry film and develop film for my old Kodak A5!!!!) They do lots or repairs on vintage cameras.

Thanks a bunch. I'll give them a call in the morning!
