This is essentially a "have to have a kid" type of challenge, or at least access to a kid. It is a challenge about a toy after all.
I'd love to enter it, but it seems a bit awkward asking if I can play with a buddies son for the day... At least it will be easy to vote on! |

1 day and three hours left and only 16 entries. Yep, VERY easy to vote this one! :P
No kids here and with no job...not going out to buy any Legos! |

You don't need to borrow the kid -- just have him build you something that you can borrow for a day. :) |

I dug around in the basement and found a bin full of my son's old legos (in three weeks he starts his freshman year of college). I have been digging through the bin hoping for inspiration. So far... nothing.

Maybe if you offer to take some nice portraits that will only be for his family of his son it might be welcomed in exchange for a photo entry....especially if you just have a concept where it only shows a child's hands busy building imagination (that way no face has to be shown and ease the concern of posting identity on internet)
Then again you don't HAVE to have a child in the shot....pose, composition of toys, concept and/or humor could work quite well ----> toy soldiers worked far better (and cost less) then having live models (and I really don't know where I would have found a spare tank lying around;-) ) |

I'm not entering this one, due to lack of time and lack of inspiration. Very much looking forward to voting on it however. For me, at least, I am expecting it to be a high voted challenge.

I am off to shoot a film noir scene in an abandoned building using Lego .
I am totally gonna bust the rule about submitting your image to more than one challenge but they'll never catch me alive!

Ok...I'm kinda new to DPC....but I REALLY expected more out of the entries to this challenge.....just HOW oringinal is it to take a picture of one little ( or two or three or four) lego personoids and give it a semi-witty title.....wow......?????!!!!! LOLOLOL I have never given one condescending or deragatory comment to anyone in voting......but this will be my first forum commment as far as saying......... huh?
I'm really wishing I would have gone back to my old basement toy closet and pulled out all the thousands of "antique" Legos and dumped them on the floor even to just photograph the pile and show how involved my kids were (AND adults family members were.... b.t.w!) LOADS of fun! I'm gonna build a structure in my attic and wait..........for the next challenge........ummmm....or maybe not. |

i thought the entries were really good. every challenge cant live up to everyone's expectations. to add, not everyone has lego lying around and they sure as heck aren't cheap to buy to create an elaborate setup just for a challenge. So im not docking points if the shot only had lego people in it.

Revealing my age -- when did lego create figures? They were just blocks in my youth. |

According to the LEGO minifigure Wikipedia page, "A precursor to the minifigure was released in 1975", and "The first modern minifigures were released in 1978".

I had lots of legos growing up and my kids have a lot as well. I think these are some of the greatest toys ever conceived. They promote imagination and technical skill and they are last forever. I wist I had the chance to enter this shot.

But I took it about three weeks before the challenge and I never got back to the El Capitan to reshoot.

If you stick around DPC long you will see incredibly amazing creative shots. Browse the photos, there are literally thousands of jaw dropping images here. |

I'm the opposite. I gave out six 8's, four 9's and one 10. All featured the figures. And just for fun, go to Flickr and look up Lego's. You'll find a bunch of groups dedicated to Lego figures, and some very creative shots. |

Another thought, and yes it hurt, but shouldn't we be judging the photograph of the Lego's? It seems some people are more worried about how creative we were with the Lego's. |
