expert editing - source material must only be the same capture of the same image at different times.
make use of multiple captures or some other technique to make a normally busy, populated place look deserted or abandoned. |

one long exposure can sometimes do this. |

Love the idea, but I'm not sure how big the participant pool would be, owing to the need for specialized equipment / techniques. |

Great idea which doesn't take exotic equipment or software. The fun would be to make a normally crowded place as "quiet as grant's tomb."
Photoshop has some tools that would do the heavy lifting.
I used them to remove the people from this Vegas scene crowded with people. |
