I need some help.I thought I was good with digital cameras.Going through a sony 505,707,717 and now a 828.From weddings to kids birthday partys I was almost perfect with the 707 and 717.But the new 828 I started shooting Portraits (galm) I cant seem to get the focus right.I have tried my studio lights and basic lights. With the subject laying down, the bottom half(stockings shoes are clear. The top shirt face is bad.Looks out of focus and color distorted.I have tried a f8 setting and auto everything.will the 8mp setting have something to do with this.

Do you have a place where you can upload a sample that we can see?

I assume you're using the hologram laser thingy for focus right? If so, perhaps heida's right. |

Thanks for the responce.I have the hologram setting to auto on.But with the lights is will not come on.Only when it's darker areas.Something may be wrong. It's new and may have some bugs.Anyone know any test to try.Like if someone stood to the front and someone to the back side of that person.Would that be a good test ?

Unlike the 505 and the 707 and the 717, the lower ISO on a 828 is ISO64. That take longer exposure to get the same light. Are you using a tripod? If you focus manually you may want to use the magnification function, (2nd button from the right under the screen I think) it magnifies the picture 2 time using the digital zoom and let you make the focus better, don't forget to stop the magnifie before taking the shot. The zoom is also more powerfull. It goes up to 200mm (35mm equi.) If you are using more zoom shooting from a point that is more far than with your previous camera, it may be difficult to get all your subject in focus. That's all I can think of right now besides I'm jealous of your camera...

Wow you know alot about my camera..lol
I am holding the camera.I held all the others.I will try the tripod. The ISO could be a part of it.Didn't think of that.I'm only standing about 6 foot from the subject.I spoke with the editor of about.com and he doesn't have a clue..lol

I used to have the F828 its a fine machine. did you know that SONY have release a firmware update and it is available free from their website I do not have the link to it anymore that might help things a bit. Failing that I feel there may be a fault with the camera
Found the link if you want to update the firmware here it is.
