Hokie, Drip dry is intreging. If you turned the water champer to a 3/4 view it might be more interesting.

Karmat love the Mimosa pic.

Mag. Hannah in green is terrific.

Drip Dry was an assignment for a textile manufacturer and they wanted that angle..hehe go figure.

Some more free study outtakes I have added.

I bet john and a few other antique car buffs will like these! :-)

And here are my outtakes from Free Study. Some don''t fall within the appropriate dates, but they could have been reshot.

I would appreciate any comments.

I like the middle one, the double decker shot. Symmetry is fun, and you have good colors and lighting in that pic. :)

Bryan I think that the neon image needs a little more burn in time to get more detail in the image,.. but i really like the train pic,.. it has great depth.
Here are a couple of outtakes I had, I couldnt decide which to submit so I closed my eyes and picked one out of half a dozen or so.

I really liked #2 and the #4 I thought the soft overcast in #4 really worked to make a very relaxing mood

1 is very cool although the exposure is a little hot. it takes a sec to 'get it' but then once i do, i enjoy the interesting perspective greatly.

ronin

i critiqued yours back when you were that other guy. you can't trick me into doing it again ;)

Those print prices are pretty good, even for the "free" member category. Have you ordered any, and how is the quality and service?

I think I liked the last of those four the best.

I really like Logflume and Mimosa. I think both are particularly suited to something I've been exploring a bit lately -- filtering the image to create a painted-on-canvas texture and printing to matte photo paper. I don't know if you want to sell photos, but if I'd taken those I'd consider submitting to greeting card companies.

myqyl: very amused by the butter : ) .. Funny idea. hope you didnt waste that butter though <wags finger at you> : )

I''ll email you one of the cookies :) It was in the bowl when I first became "inspired"... The look on my wife''s face when I said "Wait! Wait! let me get my camera" and started shooting into a bowl of butter would have won in the fear challenge. At least it scared me :)[/i]

But what if my browser''s set to not accept cookies?!

My entry''s not doing so hot (no surprise to me), but I''m not completely thrilled with any of these outtakes either. I might have submitted one of the sunsets, but I got home about 5 minutes too late to unsubmit the original entry and submit the new one.

I was just driving along the road on my way to take the sunset photos and there was this herd of goats on fire-suppression detail (eating the dried weeds).

For some reason (maybe to make me too late to submit the pictures) those clouds just hung there essentially without moving for about 25 minutes while I shot from various angles. I started with the sun just above the small cloud, and kept following it down below the far ridgeline (I'm going to try and turn the last few into a little animation). I think the first three were taken through a polarizing filter, and the last was not. I think that's the brightest one I could get without flaring out the whole thing, but I don't like the branch on the right -- I think that's why I decided to "frame" #24 instead.

Its not badâ€Â¦.I think its ok.
They print on kodak paper.
I think snapfish has better quality...but for me the cheaper price wins out. They even had a special, 4x6 were 18 cents, and 5x7 were 50 cents. The larger sizes were also comparatively low. Their shipping is not all the best though, I just got a shipment from them and some of the pictures were slightly bent from improper packaging, but previous orders were ok. I just ordered an 8x10. I̢۪ll see how that turns out.

Really like the hand and the rock. The red one would have been great for the RED challenge, but I guess it goes down a little for me in the context of the "open" challenge -- just a question of taste and style. I think they're all well-composed and rate high technically.

Thanks for your feedback. I liked that hand one too, but I was afraid that if I submitted it someone would complain that it was just a picture of some artwork that I found, which is not allowed in the rules. It's actually a picture of something at a nearby playground which was made for kids to climb on. This was the only angle I could shot where you couldn't see the utility poles, wires, landscaping, other playground parts, the hotel...and so on.

I liked the red one too, but like you, I didn't think it was good enough for the open challenge. I wasn't around here for the red challenge or it might have been a good submission.

Thanks again.
