Just in case anyone is going to the 2011 Marin County Fair this upcoming weekend (Thursday 6/30 - Monday 7/4) I will have six photos on display.

is in the photograph/digital art category (as a 12" x 36" print); it should be hanging somewhere in the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium.

(12" x 18" print) is in a special area of exhibits commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge; I'm not sure exactly where it will be shown.

These four were all submitted to/chosen for electronic display, I assume in some sort of projected slide-show; not sure exactly where that will be either, but probably at the auditorium as well.

I don't know how many submissions there were among all the various catergories, but I heard there were over 2600 total, of which they picked 750; I managed to place two of three prints and four of five electronic images. :-)

Since I figured I had to put something resembling gallery-like prices on the prints to have them taken seriously, I'm going to take the advice of several people I've consulted and use this opportunity to go through my DPC Prints Gallery and start doubling or tripling (or more) my print prices, so if anyone wants to take advantage of the fact that Langdon has still not enabled a bulk price-updating feature, now might be a good time. ;-)

Congratulations, Paul on those images and entries at the Marin County Fair.
(I especially like the title you gave the pig shot)
Because this is a juried show, it is especially grand that you have so many acceptances.

I was over that way last Thursday and saw the preparations well underway for the big event.
Here's hoping you win some nice ribbons (and make some nice sales).

I just went to the San Mateo County fair a couple weeks ago, I think my first FS is going to be from a shot I took there. I haven't been to the Marin County one yet, is it larger than the SM one? Congrats on getting your photographs in, and good luck with the competition/sales!

I don't know how big it is -- I've never been to it before myself. It does have the reputation as the "greenest" county fair in the country, and it was recently featured on Huell Howser's California's Gold/California's Golden Fairs series on PBS; I think you can view the video at that link or at the fair's website.

I have been to both Fairs (but not in a while) San Mateo Fair sprawls. Because it encompasses the old Race Track, there is plenty of fairly nearby parking to accommodate the sprawling grounds. The Marin County Fair is compact, taking over the Frank Lloyd Wright Exhibition Hall and surrounding area, but parking is also compact and - well, get there early.

The Marin Fair is a gem. Go if you you can, but really, be there when the doors open. And after the exhibits, I heartily recommend the ferris wheel (if it is there, and why shouldn't it be?). And yes, take your camera. (as if you would leave home without it.)
