I pay my ignorance, unless I get help.
I shot my mistake in Raw the Symbolic Still Life and I keep failing to get the original sent for proof.
I was sent to 2 threads on this subject but I am on a Mac and cannot use the advice (or am stupid again).

The simple question is:

HOW DO YOU SEND FROM iphoto A RAW IMAGE FOR PROOF?

Thanks.

I processed so little the original that I am really sorry for not being able to submit the proof. Well, in any case, matter of principle.

I would imagine you should find the number/name of the image and search it in finder, as i think iphoto automatically changes it into jpeg but keeps the original raw. I may be wrong but I believe this should work

Thank you very much.
I do know the image, the #, everything. I tried to send it directly from my iphoto but it keep sending a different image out the my 4 takes.
All RAW by mistake. I will never shoot in Raw. What a pest!

I don't use iPhoto, but I don't think you should be for this either. You need to link the original file from within your browser ... AFAIK iPhoto always keeps an original somewhere -- I'd use the search function to look for a folder called "Originals" for a start.

There's nothing wrong with shooting RAW on a Mac. I do it all the time. If you're using iPhoto, just select the image and choose File > Export > Original to your desktop and submit that. If the resulting file on your desktop is not RAW (NEF for Nikon, CR2 for Canon), then you have to get your hands a little dirty...

Make a note of the date and file name of the photo in question. Locate your iPhoto Library (usually in your Pictures folder) and right-click or control-click on it. Choose "Show Package Contents" from the pop-up menu and it will open like any other folder. Look inside the "Originals" folder and navigate to the date you shot the photo. Your original RAW file will be in there. Once you're found the correct file, drag it to your desktop while holding down the option key to make a copy and then close your iPhoto Library window. NEVER change or move anything in the iPhoto Library itself or you will damage the file structure (that's why the contents are hidden). Submit the copy on your desktop and you're all set.

Wow! So there is an answer after all.
I will certainly try it but I think that for this image I pestered enough the SC with trying to submit over and over the original in various forms. I am glad that there is a way.
If they DQ me, well, that's that. My ignorance.
Thanks again.
I think that we shall use this in the HELP folder for future reference.

Send SC a note and explain the problem you are having. They are usually patient and understanding.

That's exactly the reason why I switched from Iphoto to Lightroom. I hated my files being hidden from me and only accessible through the program's interface. What Scalvert said is the process. But just to double up on his warning, be extremely careful to COPY, not move, the original file.

Every file you've sent so far has been a JPEG. If you shot in RAW format, then a file ending in .jpg is not going to be the original no matter how many times you try.

So long as you shot RAW - aka NEF for us Nikon types - you should still be able to recover the original file quite easily from iPhoto if you follow scalvert's directions. Even if you did something like flag the original and batch it together with other flagged photos, then exported it, the flagged photos should still be there under your events. Go take a look. The only time my NEFs have gone missing, it's because I deleted them.

Have you also checked your camera itself? Do you instruct iPhoto to delete the original files on the camera or keep them?

Thanks you so much for your time to help me. Thanks to all.

I think that I did send this last time a NEF image. Your instructions are great.
