I like your way of voting!
I started trying to vote one score higher then where I envisioned the image would fall... but I like your idea even better.
Thanks for sharing.

Do you vote on a six to ten scale? I find it hard to believe that someone can thing that on average all the photos are 8's.

I vote 5 to 10. I am sick of low voters out there so I figured if they can vote low...then I can vote high. So I do. I still vote according to the image...but at a higher level. So for example this was my breakdown for this challenge -

10 - 7 images
9 - 16 images
8 - 28 images
7 - 12 images
6 - 5 images
5 - 5 images

I like it. I was close in thinking you were voting on a 6-10 scale though. So you thought 63 were great and 10 were just OK or bad?

As usual as soon I published my score it went down - 6.33 at 54.
PS Now 6.25 at 58. At this rate of fall my 1st take might win and I have not improved at all!

I also vote on a scale of 5 to 10 ... very, very rarely do I vote lower and it has to be something that hits the wrong nerve with me, not so much the technical aspect but rather something I find personally to be in bad taste.

When I joined, it seemed to me, that the votes were higher.

I also think of the kids on here and the people without the expensive equipment and software and look instead at the effort and what they are trying to do. It won't stop the really great shots from winning the ribbon but it might keep people from getting discouraged and quitting.

I am really glad the Judi is giving out high votes - she mentioned she did it before in an earlier challenge and I thought it was a class act.

I always vote 1-10 (including this challenge, but no 1's or 2's were giving here). I agree that it's really bothersome to get a low score on a image you put so much effort to produce; I guess I wouldn't mind if would be accompanied of a comment (but this is a subject for the many threads - old and ongoing - on that matter).

Anyhow, kudos to Judi and MacDonald for their approach and inspiration on voting.

For this particular challenge, my perception when looking at each entry is that all participants really put a great deal of effort to improve their "Take 1" images.

So, here's how I voted:
You have rated 73 of 73 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 17 images (23%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.7534.

And here's the breakdown:
10 - 5
9 - 10
8 - 13
7 - 10
6 - 16
5 - 10
4 - 6
3 - 3

No comments, a little bit surprising this many votes in. Was at a pretty consistent 6.75 earlier before everybody took the big hit, slowly climbing back up.

No comments here either... Let's see if the slow climbing will be steady and make my front page...

dropped quite a bit the past 12 hours or so.

Also no comments here. In fact, I haven't received a single comment on any of my images in voting for the past 6 days!

Looks like I will have to comment on all photos again to get people started (seemed to work last time).

No comments here either, but I've gone up by ~0.1 in the last few hours, which is nice considering I was flirting with leaving the sixes. Still quite a bit higher than my previous attempts at this kind of image : )

If you're short comments I will offer my services to ya. I've already voted. Pm me the title of your image. (It's not against site rules. Asked the SC about it ages ago )

You're welcome stephanie :)

Now everyone has a comment. Battling through a spotty internet connection, I was able to post something for everyone. Hope you all like them (or at least learn from them).

And thanks to Niall for providing my comment. Yay for sharing :)

Does it Take II to improve your score?

Yes, apparently, it does. However, I am not a masochist, so I'm not going to tell you the meager spread.

But, thank you giantmike for your comment, not only for that image but the other image I have in competition right now.
It's grand to get them, and a great learning experience for you (and others) to give them.

:)

Some excellent improvements on originals (for those I could establish). One's I couldn't find the originals for I scored as if it was a free study (no such thing as a DNMC just because I can't find the origanal in my book)

About the score I expected for the type of shot it is. I was hoping for some comments on how it was improved but I guess mine is either hard to find the original, people are not looking for the original or it is just not considered that much of an improvement. My two comments are quite possitive though. I feel most people have gone to a bit of trouble for this challenge (I know I did) and so I will go and have a closer look at these images again and leave more comments if time permits. Well done everyone.

of the identity's of who does the requests
