We just had to reset our computer, so now there isn̢۪t anything on it. That includes all my pictures. Blah! That just means I have to take a lot more. On the up side it got all the ad ware and spy ware out, and most likely a few viruses.

Oh God! I really feel for you... I'd be devastated if I lost my HD (which is why I'm a maniac about back-ups).

Not to ad insult to injury but I'm sure glad I have a Mac. I watch my husband wrestle with his Windoz maching daily while I happily soldier on. He's not a "Mac person" but I've caught him more than once looking at Apple.com's webstore. Hope springs eternal!

Seriously though, glad you're back up and running :-)

This might help. When you get your PC up and running with all you programs installed make a "ghost" image of your PC that way you can re-install the system to a working PC within 15 minutes. I agree with everyone else, backup your data regularly, there is no need to backup the operating system if you have a gost image of it ready to re-install if there is a catastrophy.
Hope this helps,
Ross

Did you try the RESTORE program that comes with XP? My neighbor had the same problems you did and we eventually ran the restore to an earlier date and that solved the problem nicely. He lost some important data, but didn't have a complete loss of info.

Also, my computer's platform is Win 98 and even though I do get some spyware and run AdAware every so often, I never get viruses or trojan horses and don't have any of the problems that people do who are running XP. Even though I have an occasional blue screen now and then, I find it to be a very stable operating system. I wonder why, with all the problems that XP has and it's vulnerability to disabling spyware and viruses people are using it. (shrugs shoulders)

My sympathies. I too got a virus and although I back up often, you always get caught unprepared. Lost some 6 shots that were heavy with PS editing. Many hours lost. Well, who knows what else I lost. lol
