This was meant to be my entry but at the last moment I decided not too enter this challenge as I felt folks might not find it "night" enough.

At least a couple of people mentioned that they couldn't see the silhouetted lamp-pole in my entry; there's only a 4-5% difference between the tonal values of the pole and the sky. I wanted it to look like a really dark night, with the subject barely visible.
Here are a couple of lighter versions.
