I'm hoping someone can help me with a date issue. I'm having trouble working out the actual deadline for challenges in relation to international time zones. I'm in Australia so I'm quite a few hours ahead of the dpc server. I'm taking some shots for the chocolate challenge. Now my cameras date stamp is showing that I'm already well into 18/07/04. I think that theoretically If I shoot an image tomorrow morning (Australian time) then I'll miss the deadline because my camera will show thw 19th. Has anybody else already worked this out? I'm sure I've made it sound more complex than it should be. |

I'm ahead a few good hours too, one of the reasons why I never shoot in the first day. That's the day when I think of ideeas :)) But if you really whant to shoot th first day just change the date on your camera to go with ze americans.

Hi enigmania
The time is based on DPC time no matter what your camera shows it will be time corrected for validation.
The only thing you do need to remember is that if you cross over state borders etc and there is a time difference that you do need to ajust the camera time along with it! EG: Queensland does not have daylight savings, SA is different by 1 hour to NSW and Vic etc.
Hope this helps!

We understand that photographers are in different time zones, and take that into account when processing DQ requests. You may wish to make your profile more specific as to your location (i.e., include your state) so we can make the proper adjustment when considering DQ request.
Your camera should be set to your local time zome -- do not adjust it to match DPC time.
The deadlines are based on the "Current Server Time" which is listed at the bottom of every page on DPChallenge.

Thanks for the responses.
Just to clarify ClubJuggle....If, while I'm submitting, my camera is set to my local time and shows 19/07/04 and the DPC server shows 18/07/04 then my entry will be valid. Is that correct? |

Actually Terry, reading back over your reply I can see that my image would be valid. Just took a few minutes for my head to get untangled :)
Thanks again guys.

Just as an example:
When dpc time is 12 midnight = it is 2pm my time!
I am 14 hours ahead of dpc time here.
If I submit a photo before 2pm on the date after the challenge closes my photo is still valid.
A challenge starts at 12 midnight (DPC Time) but for me that is 2pm.

Correct. Assume a hypothetical challenge that runs from the 1st to the 7th of the month. If you submitted a photo (taken near home) dated the 8th at 10 AM, that image would be acceptable; however, if you submitted one taken on the 1st at 10 AM, it would be disqualified.
