I absolutely agree. What amazes me is how many people miss the point of corruptibility.

Do I care that he's a perv? No
Do I care that he lied when he got caught? YES
Do I care that anyone in authority or with the power to write bills, spend tax-payer money, make critical decisions about national security put himself in a position to be blackmailed into doing whatever someone with a particular interest wanted him to do? HELL YES! That is my biggest issue. If I was the only one who had information on a congressman or senator that could destroy their career, I could potentially get them to vote on a bill the way I wanted them to, push my legislative agenda, grant my company a billion dollar contract, etc. THAT is the problem I have with all this. THAT is the problem I had with the Bill Clinton situation. THAT is why I would have a ZERO tolerance policy on politicians and people with that kind of power allowing themselves to be put in that position.

I also agree with Achoo's points about integrity and honesty toward marriage reflecting on how they conduct themselves professionally. I've worked with and for people of high personal integrity and very low personal integrity and believe me - it is reflected in their professional performance as well.

Cute. ;) But the issue is that libertarians have as their fundamental value....ta da....LIBERTY. So why they start bitching about what other people do or think is beyond me. If Joe Public thinks it's important to know whether Congressman Weener can keep his dick in his pants, then so be it. They have the LIBERTY to do that, no? There are no laws against it and most libertarians pick and choose which laws they think are important anyway.

Non-libertarians are not encumbered by their own position. They are free to make judgement calls because they do not automatically devalue judgement.

How did the Librarian get involved here?

You think it's important...I think that's stupid. You think every private detail of his life is important, again, I think that's stupid. You think he should be expected to truthfully answer personal questions about private matters when asked by the press...that's stupid. You're allowed to be stupid. Just don't expect me to agree with you.

Your judgements are just as biased and narrow, or more so, as anyone else's.

The fact is that what you or I (or probably anyone else posting here) think about Weiner tweeting his wiener isn't important. Ultimately his marriage's fate is up to him and his wife. His job is up to his constituents (and possibly the Ethics Committee). They may chastise him for exercising poor judgement and he may have difficulty getting on choice committees, but I seriously doubt they'll kick him out.

If he had lied under oath about it...well, that's perjury, a different kettle of fish.

No one is sworn to tell the truth to the press. I don't trust the press to tell the truth any more than I trust politicians. So he lied to the liars...BFD.

As to his integrity and honesty. I think his wife is the one best suited to judge. And his constituents will collectively decide if he should continue in his job representing them.

Including you? ;)

But your post is correct. We both have the right to make opinions and positions, even if those opinions and positions are contradictory to other opinions and positions we have.

Now that is a complete WHO CARES! The time I have here on Earth is far more precious to me than to waste it on Palin.

I was listening to NPR and the guy said that people want their politicians to be honest and transparent. Thats a load BS right there.
People want their politicians to appear to be transparent and good moral people. Because when it comes down to it, we dont vote
for the honest person. So many people listen to that old adage that says anyone can run for public office and they see that the country
is in despair with corrupt politicians. So these honest good people go to run for office and few ever get there or get very far.

Its those with a lot of money that get in office. They are able to put the money into the campaigns and win the vote.

It matters to me. What happens to his political future is up to his constituents.

However for me. I figure it like this.

If you will break your promises to the person you know best, in the world. If you will betray their trust, then what hope do I, whom you do not know, have for you keeping your word to me?

Is that how the current prez got in?

I say leave the guy alone.. if he wants to talk to girls on the internet on his own time.. let him. Just like if Clinton wants to get BJ's from Monica... so what? That's his personal life. It's not effecting his ability to do his job and do it well.. heck it might help him do his job better! lol. What is affecting his ability to do his job, is all the people on his ass and in his face about his personal life. If it were drugs or something of that nature, I would understand, because that would interfere with work. But a little internet chat in the evenings is not hurting anything.

I know some people who say smoking pot on his free time is his personal business.

I've smoked pot often in high school.. and I can say from experience, I had no physical addiction to pot.. and I have a hard time believing anyone who says they are addicted to it, so I can understand his point, he could easily do it in his free time and not be under the influance during work. IMO it's 90% mental and 10% physical addiction. However, pot permanantly effects your memory, and who knows what else.. so that would effect your ability to do your job.

Oh come on... Why are people upset that a POLITICIAN lied.... Seriously?? Really?

Has it gotten so bad that you don't even expect such common behavior as telling the truth? We are truly circling the drain if that is the state of affairs.

I really get a kick out of this one...like we honestly believe that telling the truth is something we all strive for. Seriously, when was the last time anyone looked at someone's baby and said: "Good grief, what an ugly baby" or honestly tell their spouse: "No dear, those do not make your butt look big... Your butt is big".

Face it... Most people lie to a degree and those of us who don't have the scars to prove it. :O)

My favorite was in response to "Is this a picture of you"... Hmmm these things can be photoshopped.

How many images of his parts are out there that he doesn't know if this particular one is really his.

I think you just disagree with me just to do it no matter how silly your position winds up being. :) Please assume I'm socially adept enough to understand what white lies are all about and that they are different than lying about boinking the neighbor girl.

Well, maybe next time his typical male mind...ego...___________(fill in the blank)...will choose a more productive form of entertainment and go to the opera instead.
