Silhouette at night

Would a sunset silhouette be considered a night silhouette?

You may be marked down a bit members that actually did do a night shot.

I'm pretty sure the average viewer will not think sunset to be equivalent to "night". Would you in a normal circumstance? Night is generally when it's dark.

Well thing is it is actually night theoreticly speaking as I took this shot at 11-25 PM. That's 35 minutes before midnite but here in Holland during this time of the year the last light of the sun is still visible at this time.

I think sunset makes it too easy. I don't have anything in yet, because I'm having a rough time with the "night" aspect of it. I have tons of sunset silhouette ideas...

Sure but if I want to make a nite shot silhouette I will have to wait up till at least after 12 midnite and that would make it theoreticly an early morning shot. And what about those folks living out in The Land of the Midnight Sun. That may refer to any of the world's northern regions above the Arctic Circle including:

Canada, including the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut
Denmark (Greenland)
Finland
Iceland
Lapland
Norway
Russia
Sweden
United States (Alaska)
There you could take a shot at midnite with the sun shining as well.(6 months of the year that is)

what about inside?

Still too light for inside or outside right now. It's now almost 9 in the evening here in Holland and outside the sun is still shining abundantly. It will only really be dark after midnite and by then I will be fast asleep. Gotta get up at 5 in the morning to get ready for work and by then the sun is up again already. Very short nights this time of the year here in Holland.

It says 'at night' not 'in the dark'.

Wow....I didn't know that about Holland.

I think these people are screwed for this challenge. Them's the breaks. You can try to twist it with the title, but that's only going to work for some. This is all advice if you are worried about the score. Otherwise, enter whatever you want.

I say...enter what you like and leave the voters to their own opinions....afterall, that is what this thing is all about. Personally, I think a sunset would meet the challenge if there is a silhouette that is obvious in the scene, but I am just one voter. My entry, I am very happy with regardless of how it scores. The contest are just for fun and "some" critique on your image.

OK thanks for all the advice. I have decided not too enter. Here is the image in question anyway. Taken from my rear balcony overlooking the city. A hot-air balloon drifts slowly over the city bathed in the last glow of the setting sun.
