Are any of these websites trustworthy? I lost my blue shirt and I've been trying to get back to shooting but my camera died/won't turn on. Tried all the do-it-yourself troubleshooting, camera is out of warranty and the local shop is charging me at least $250 for repair. Any experience with these guys or do you have other suggestions? |

Might be a good time to look at the Canon loyalty program. |

I used Precision camera to get my 28-135 lens repaired. Way cheaper than Canon, fast service. I was more than happy! |

fwiw, most local camera repair shops don't even do the repairs. unless it's something really straightforward, they send them to the manufacturer and add a markup to the same price you would have gotten from the manufacturer. maria's suggestion is a good one. good luck! |

I managed to destroy my 40D backup camera and Canon wanted $700 to repair it since the body itself was damaged. As an alternative, they offered me a 50D with 28-135 lens, battery, etc. (the full bundle kit) for the same price. It's refurbished, but you'd never know it, and the lens appears to be new. Turnaround time was less than a week and they even Fedexed the battery from my old camera back to me without asking. |

Another vote for the loyalty program. When my 20D died an untimely shutter death, I sent it to Canon and they offered me a refurbed 50D for what was, at the time, about 1/2 the street price of a new one ($629, body only). Been working great for a year and a half now.
