I have been looking at al lot of the other pictures and at least with Macro have noticed that while the files are the same size as mine (after resizing) that they seem to hold a lot more details.

Basically I am having trouble with resizing my pictures and loosing a great deal of the detail I have in the larger sizes, and I am looking for advice on how to minimize it. I have photoshop, but do not use it much as I am a novice (or worse), when it comes to photoshop.

When you say "same size" do you mean file size (i.e. 148k), or do you mean the display size (640x480)?

In any case, if you use Photoshop to manage your images, when you resize the image make sure you use the "Bicubic" settting in the Interpolation field.

When you save the file, make sure you save it as a JPEG... and use the highest quality setting possible (they are numbered from 1 to 10). If the file size just saved is over 150k, then save it again, but use a lower quality setting. If your version of Photoshop has a "Save for the Web" menu item underneath the File menu, then use that-- it'll let you preview your saved image, and view the file size (in Kbytes) before you save.

Does Paintshop Pro 7 not have the differant settings or am I just missing it?

don''t save a .jpeg file repeatedly. you will loose detail every time you do. if you want to work on a file and save it throughout, convert it to a .tif file (or the program''s own working file) and work on that. last step then is to convert to and save as .jpeg. check out the link for [url=//www.photoblink.com/info.asp?Article=articles/JPEG.xml[/url]]jpeg compression under the learn => tutorial info for more details.
