On our way to do some shooting last weekend my son and I passed Le Fanu House, the site of my 100 Year Old Challenge Entry from earlier in the year. Simon was keen to stop to shoot the outside of the derelict 1890's contructed building. We did this for a while before we discovered that the back door had been left open, which gave us the opportunity to be a bit naughty and grab some shots inside. Much to our surprise the inside provided some really quite bizarre scenes. Clearly the buidling has been occupied by squatters at some time, and whilst it has not really been vandalized, it contained quite a lot of artistic graffiti, which made some interesting juxtapositions against things like stained glass windows and an early 1900s wall safe! The basement (an uncommon feature for a West Australian building) proved to be a real revelation - very spooky and dungeon-like. All in all, made for an interest morning of exploring and shooting.
