I'm remembering that you can use "sharpen" and "sharpen more" in photoshop. Is that correct? Or can you only use "sharpen"? (sharpen more doesn't have any sliders, selections, choices, etc.) |

The rules are very clear on this - sharpen only. |

I used "Auto-Sharpen" in PSElements 8. There were no sliders...you just clicked on it and it "sharpened"
what I would like to know on my Nikon D80 HOW can I take "sharper" pictures. I think it was Paul/ GeneralE had said -

Correct. You can also change the sharpen setting in your camera before taking the picture. |
I have not 'yet' found the setting for this...any help here would be appreciated... |

You can only use Photoshop's "Sharpen" command, but you can use it more than once, which will definitely sharpen "more" ...
Sorry, but I have no familiarity with the Nikon menus or controls. If you normally shoot RAW only, you might have to put the camera into RAW + JPEG mode to access the settings, but they should be buried in the menus somewhere ... |

Hopefully someone with a Nikon D80 can answer...I have read Richard's 2 articles (which I had not found yet in all my searches) but it appears that my camera must be an older model, I do not have either choices that I can see..I do not have Picture Control nor do I have Shooting Menu>Image Sharpening. I tried to change the settings to RAW + JPEG when I do that Image Size opens up but nothing else changes.
ahhhhhh I just found it under Optimize Image>Custom!!! My Choices are: Auto 0 Normal -2 Low -1 Med Low +1 Med High +2 High, right now I have it set on Auto...from the illustrations in the Article 2063 that Richard gave me I THINK I want to set mine to either +1 or +2 right???
I have a terrible time trying to get the "razor sharpness" to my images..it takes alot of work on my part (eyes) to get it right.
Eureka!!! I'll wait to hear your opinions as to what I should set this at and I'll go out and "play" with it and see what the differences are...wow I'm hoping this will really help me out... |
