Well... After a 4 year long injury in my shoulder I just got word today that I will need surgery on it to fix up about 5 or so places of "tendon fraying." No date yet but they are calling tomorrow to make the appointment. It is a simple surgery however I will be in a sling for 6 weeks and wont be able to do much for a total of 6 months. So with that being said, my photography will be put on hold for a little while I heal. I should be able to come on here and type one handed so expect forum posts still from me.

I've suffered through shoulder issues as well so I sympathize and wish you a speedy recovery. Regarding your photography, maybe taking it slow and using a tripod would be in order, if you can actually transport your gear. |

Ouch. Well, you'll be glad to get it finally done, I'm sure. That sounds about as much fun as stopping a car with one's knee.

I guess using my tripod could work. Just a matter of getting the gear set up with one hand. I could potentially have a buddy with me to do that for me. Of course that just adds to the things people need to be doing for me while I recover. And thank you for your wishes. :) |

good luck, i hear rehab is a hoot. thankfully i had two doctors talk me out of shoulder surgery. i have a labrum tear in one and a rotator cuff tear in the other, luckily heavy exercise and joint stabilization workouts did the trick. I have a friend who's not so lucky, he already had his labrum repaired and now his bicep tendon is torn and the labrum may have come loose as well. |

All of those things have something wrong with me... Just minor things. My bicept tendon as the doc said is "pretty screwy." There are a few other big names in the diagnosis that I don't even know how to pronounce much less spell. But yea, its a minor surgery so I should be 100% in no time. :)

just curious, did you get a second opinion? i went to three doctors, two said they couldn't guarantee surgery would do anything the other was ready to throw me on the table. this was after both MRIs showed damage.
the rehab guy i went to also said surgery, even minor is rough. he gave me some exercise to stabilize the joint, but that didn't do much until i really hit the resistance workouts.
turns out i didn't need surgery after all. but everyone is different, all im saying is get a second and third opinion if you didn't get one. |

Being that I have had this injury for 4 years now I have seen a few doctors over the years for this. The reason I have not gotten a second opinion this time is that I need to be 100% for volleyball next season. It is needed because I go to a 21k a year school and the only reason I am going is because of volleyball and I sorta need my shoulder. Haha! Besides.. I am over being hurt 24/7. I am ready for something to change. And surgery seems like the only thing now. Also, for nearly 3 years I have been doing bands (resistance training) on it as well as muscle stimulator. |

Marko...let me caution you about using your arm to soon...my Aunt (although much older than you...but way more stubborn than you) had this surgery done...IF SHE HAD FOLLOWED ORDERS and let the arm TOTALLY HEAL before doing ANYTHING... REGARDLESS she would have much better use of the arm...instead she moved boxes and other things until she re-tore it again and totally messed up the other arm as it was compensating for the loss of the first one, she re-injured it so bad that the Dr. refused to even consider doing anything else because she refused to follow orders....if the Dr. says do not hoist or lift...DON'T DO IT...nothing is worth risking the use of your arm than a forced R-R. Mind you I'm not saying it will fall off or anything...it just needs time to heal...gentle time...
ok...enough Mother talk...lol |

Yes ma'am. :)
I am pretty good at following the doctor's orders. Then again I do have a high pain tolerance so I may hurt it again without knowing.. Lol.
