So, I dont do much indoor shooting, but with these challenges I find that I want to more and more, and really, might lighting sucks..
I have a bunch (4) of the 6500k Energy Fluorescents they say they are equivelennt to 100watts but they dont seem very bright. So.. I am looking at these.. are they good or do they suck.. anyone know?
These are all Amazon links:
//www.amazon.com/CowboyStudio-Photography-Continous-Lighting-Backdrops/dp/B001G4BNZA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1305498193&sr=8-3
//www.amazon.com/CowboyStudio-Photography-Lighting-Backdrop-Background/dp/B0035U1AEW/ref=sr_1_29?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1305503838&sr=1-29
//www.amazon.com/CowboyStudio-Photography-Lighting-Umbrella-Wireless/dp/B001O0V8HE/ref=sr_1_21?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1305503579&sr=1-21
//www.amazon.com/CowboyStudio-Photography-Continuous-Lighting-Carrying/dp/B003M6LH1A/ref=sr_1_25?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1305503838&sr=1-25
Oh and p.s. I need to buy it in the next 3 hours :) and I am leaning towards one of the first two links
If anyone has a better idea in the same price range im all for it as well :)

I dunno... some people love "hot lights" but I am not one of them (these would be cooler as not like hl of old) but you need a shite load of power to make much difference for continuous compared to the power you can get from flashes.
I just don't see the advantage for MOST things to cont light even if they would help learning a great deal. Now some of those VERY expensive led panels - yeah I see some cool uses for them but this is basically a mono light setup in continuous.
If your hot for hot lights (sorry) I cannot help on that brand... just don't know. If not sure - get a cheap worklight and some sheets or something to put between and see how you like that setup. |

Its not that I need cont lights, it just appeared to be less expensive then flashes and the remote triggers needed to do the same thing.. am I looking at the wrong stuff? |

I had similar lights when I started. They are not bad for a small studio work, you definitely need a tripod for the usage (depending on the power of the lights of course). However, prices are not bad. if you can get backdrops, stands and all that for 150 bucks, you should just pay another 150 for a couple of strobes, nothing fancy, and you are ready to go. With the "hotlights" you can have portraits and all that, probably sitting position, and with strobes, you can take more moving full body photos.
also try eBay and craigslist |
