Well...???
05/23/2011 08:20:51 AM · #77
Well I guess I should give an update:

I ended up working open to close all of last weekend (I work at a bar) and then did the same on Monday and Tuesday. Nothing more fun than 4 18 hour shifts in a row. I take classes from Tuesday to Thursday so I haven't been home long enough to take care of the problem.

I came home Thursday afternoon from the bar, and as I was getting ready to take a shower and get ready for class, Mike came out of his room looking like hell saying he needed to go to the hospital. He had apparently been vomiting up blood, so I rushed him to the ER where he continued to vomit blood. Lots of it. They had to give him blood from how much he lost. Well they sent him home yesterday and he seemed ok and a little weak. Well while I was laying around being miserable from my allergies, Mike had went to restroom and I got up and saw that there were several pools of blood in the hallway between his room and the bathroom. My wife went to check on him and he had blood all over restroom, used 2 rolls of toilet paper trying to clean it up, squeezed out a tube of A&D ointment into the sink that he stuffed full of toilet paper. He didn't seem to know what he was doing, who we were and where he was at. And he was naked. That's when my wife noticed the blood was coming from his rectum. He went to his room and got dressed and laid down. He kept saying he was ok but kept calling my wife by her mothers name. We got the mess cleaned up as my in laws came over from Kelly's frantic phone call. We heard a loud crash and looked in Mikes room: he was naked again and fell off of his bed, and I swear he had to be standing on his bedroom table to fall where he did. That's when we called the ambulance to come get him. Kelly and I went up and checked on him. He didn't seem to know who we were. We stayed till about 6am and came home.

Yeah so that's been my weekend.

Usually, from my experience, it is alcoholism. Esophageal varices. Bleeding gastric ulcers.

That's what I was wondering -- is it a reason to be able to admit him to an inpatient treatment facility.

That's what they said was wrong with him. I couldn't remember from the lack of sleep

Sorry it had to come down to such an awful mess to take care of, but then if it gets him out of your home and where he needs to be...+1 on Wendy's comment.

Ahh, the rewards of a life well lived huh?

Can't help but to feel a little sorry for him, but.. Well, we all make our own choices.

So, not exactly the best way for this to end, but... Thank goodness, and I'm glad you didn't have to cause marital stress to get him out. Serendipity.. :)

The wifes uncle moved out a few weeks ago. He is living with a friend now so they can be sick together. But now we are taking in my step sons half brother who has lots of issues and is an angst filled 16 year old. So we'll see what happens

You and your wife are either

1/ Gluttons for punishment
or
2/ Extremely compassionate people.

I vote for - 2/

My warmest, best regards to you both.

My advice? Start looking out for yourselves. Sounds like you've got an endless supply of her family problems - perhaps you should move about three countries away.
