Front row: Isaac, GeneralE, and the little girl is Jessica
Mark Papas' wife took the picture using my wide-angle lens & camera (I think)

After two days with Bear, I can verify that he's as grumpy as he sounds. |

He's kind. He's unassuming. He's breathtakingly handsome. He's a world-class chef. He helps little old ladies across the street, and always yields right-of-way at intersections. In short, he's an absolute paragon of gentlemanly virtues.
Or not... Live with it...

Bear speaks true! Well, maybe not the help-old-ladies-across-the-street.... But he's an EXCELLENT chef, definitely handsome (I've seen some really great portraits of him this week!), and has been a most wonderful host to a few of us this weekend.
I'll post some of my patent-pending Tourist Photos later this week when I get home and get a chance to edit a few.

Ah, yes. I see it is time for me to chime in here.
First impressions? Bear is a sweet ol' bear, and an excellent driver who knows his way around. Not only that, he has fine taste in women; PennyClick is a darling.
Meeting Johanna, her Mike, and Deb Fort was the frosting on the cake.
Yes, we have some nice people in this small DPC world of ours. And more adventures in store |

I did take a handful of pictures. Well, a LOT of pictures, but only a handful will remain on the hard drive. I just like hearing that clicking sound... In B&W because my laptop doesn't have a version of Photoshop that does the 7D files. Still. I'm THAT slow....

What happens when you get 4 DPCers and a 5th photographer together with a long table and multiple outlets:
Clockwise from bottom: Tanguera's guy Mike (the hand), Melethia, PennyClick, Bear_Music, Tanguera |

That's very kind of Deb to say, but PennyClick has been the fantastic hostess, making all feel welcome, while I shamble along in my vaguely grumpy bear-ness...

You saying this about Penny got me to say, in my head, "Bear and Penny, sitting in a tree, k - i - s - s - i - n - g." It just reads so beautiful when people talk kindly and with love about each other. |

Wellll... I'll be horn swoggled!!!
Mr. Bear_Music, you lucky and probably undeserving dog!... to have such a great traveling companion on a photo safari. I'm never so lucky!
I just got back from a short 4-day photo safari myself last night (next door to you in northern Nevada) and my traveling companion there was sleeping in my CRV and my closest thing to meaningful communication with people was finishing just one position out-of-the-money in not one, but TWO, poker tournaments in a row in Reno!
I suppose neither Melethia nor Tanguera do photo safari's with crazy dudes, do they?. They are way to smart for that. LOL!!!!
Sounds like you are having a wonder photo safari! I'm jealous.
Take care, have fun!

Thanks sweetie. But as most of you know he does do almost all the cooking, and we know how important that is.. |

I grew up in Carmel Valley. I remember a time when cows used to live where all those expensive homes are now! YIKES!
I hope you all had a great time!

Maybe "almost all" but you just served up a killer alfresco lunch plate with chicken salad and various goodies on red leaf lettuce...

Thanks for the warm welcome Robert and Penelope. You were great hosts and knew all the right spots to shoot.
Why is it that it is so much easier to shoot than to process, after a busy four days i have barely looked at the first day shooting. Here are a few
While preserving the better ones as possible free study entries. I will laugh if three of us put in the same subject for free study.

Yesterday we had the distinct pleasure of hooking up briefly with Brian Watkins ( briantammy) and his lovely wife Tammy, who were celebrating their 30th anniversary with a road trip in the Carmel/Monterey/Big Sur area. So here they are! Happy anniversary, folks!

Thanks Robert and Penny for the warm welcome. We certainly had a great trip and meeting you both and sfalice was a wonderful plus. Robert you surely didn't understate how winding the Carmel Valley road was. It was a great drive though. We also found another amazing drive, the 58 between Bakersfield and Mojave. Beautiful hills.
Our little puppy had a nice time too. :-) |

Well, I'm back home from visiting with Bear_Music and PennyClick.
what delightful people they are. And, oh my, what a splendid cook/chef Bear is.
More to follow, including pictures as soon as I sort through the 900+- frames...
And placate my geriatric cat who was not, and still is not, amused at my absence.
