If I would have been a member when the purple challenge was going on I would have submitted something like this... Please tell me what you would have given it..Please be brutally honest! Thanks.
here are some other pictures I took today also...One of which I feel is powerful...
I may reshoot this one if a challenge comes up that would fit this sort of thing. It's only a 30 min. drive.
this sunset picture is unedited...should I edit it?

The purple cups are ok but the main problem is the cluttered background that looks like it was color changed to be a pink-purple hue. Having a clean, uncluttered background would have helped. Also removing the space between the middle and right cup to have a consistent flow or else maybe crop out the top and leave the space as an interest point of an abstract shot.
I like the vibrant colors of the third shot, although some would say a little too processed. Cropping off the handrail and sky at the top and the stone step at the bottom gives it a more symetrical (sorta) abstract feel where the emphasis is on the lines and colors.
The only thing I suggest with the sunset would be to crop out some of the black at the bottom. That way it places more emphasis on the sun and moves the horizon line from being a little too much in the middle. All that black just doesnt really add much to the composition.

Purpule cur look fake (hue shift in psd) and the background is just problematic... maybe one glass with drop of water and ice with lot of light to see transparency.....

I think your edited 'Purple Cups' is much better. I feel it still lacks the "wow" factor you hear about around here, but not a bad pic. If you were to reshoot it, I would for sure work on the background. Something solid and maybe contrasting the purple. Also the front cup seems just a bit out of focus. That's what I'm still learning, little, little details that make big, big difference.
The stairway shot...hmmm, I think that as a subject, this has potential. As is, it doesn't do much for me, but maybe trying different angles/perspective could produce something interesting. Maybe try from right at the bottom or top.
The sunset shot I think is great. I do agree with moodville about cropping out some of the bottom. Moving the horizon down also uses the 'Rule of Thirds', placing the focus point on the thirds line. It is a great capture. I like the placing of the sun, partially down. The colors are very good.
If you havn't already done so, check out the tutorials and "How'd They Do That" on here. Some are pretty good and helpful.
Keep shootin' and HAVE FUN!!!

Better, but not perfect. I find my eye wandering all over the place looking for a point of focus. |

I don't believe in the word perfect. However, I know this picture does not have a WOW factor to it..and I don't expect that. Just wanted to also say that I don't believe in perfect
