I am keen to learn about photo editing and found that Adobe's Photoshop is one of the most widely used (true?) I also found that there are 2 version of photoshop, ie. Photoshop Element (latest version 2.0) and Photoshop (version 7.0). what is the best approach to get startup? Should I get into Photshop ver 7 right away (assume photoshop element is just a sub-set of ver 7)? Would appreciate any input on this.
Thanks! |

Photoshop is definitely the most widely used. I would suggest downloading a tryout version first, if you have a high-speed connection. You can DL a tryout version of both PS Elements and version 7 HERE. Adobe also has some useful tutorials on their site.

I used elements 1.0, and several other versions of photoshop including ps4 and ps5 and uninstalled them all after encountering ps7. |

Still surfing the web on the photoshop... could someone tell me if my assumption is right: if I get photoshop version 7, does it mean that I will have all the features and capability of photoshop element 2, plus some other more advanced features? Meaning if I have the photoshop7, I no longer need photoshop element 2, right?
thanks! |

Let me put it like this:
If you just want the program for improving your digital photos a little Elements will probbly be enough. But if you are thinking of doing more things (manipulate more) you should get Photoshop 7 right from the start. I educate in Photosop and we use Elements for beginners and 7 for more advanced. It´s not a bad thing to start with Elements because it much cheaper.

And Adobe sometimes has very cheap upgrade deals from Elements to PS.
