In an effort to broaden our minds, I have taken it upon myself to start the DPC book club - each week we will post a new book and those who want to join in can feel free to do so.

So without further ado - I present the first book for us to enjoy.

Natural Harvest - A Collection of Semen based recipes.

Or, alternatively you can just post your funny book titles here.

A real book club would be pretty sweet.

Along the same lines, I love the British photo magazines, but they are very expensive here in the US. I wouldn't mind finding someone I could swap issues with after reading them.

If there are any in-particular that you like I am happy to buy them and forward them onto you.

The author's sidebar (on the left) is worth a read.

The title of this thread is intriguing. Why not start a DPChallenge Book Club.

How would we decide on a title? Or would we start a list and those on the list get first dibs on a book selection? Or would one person just suggest a title, and those who feel interested in that title join in?

Getting past the procedural process, here's a book I'm reading by a publisher, Europa Editions, who are quite selective, called My Berlin Child It is a fascinating read, even if it was panned brutally by reviewers.

Anybody want to read and discuss this, or another selection?

Somehow, I feel sure the author of this thread, Simms, would appreciate the pleasure we might get out of such a book club.

How do you lend/borrow kindle books? Aren't they held hostage by/on Amazon.com?

since january amazon has allowed 14 day lending of certain books (likely determined by the publisher) you can lend directly through their web site by selecting the borrowers amazon registered email address, and it will deliver to their kindle for up to 14 days. when you browse books you'll see a new field "lending". for example, I have water for elephants which is lending enabled.

i can't speak for nook though, although i do believe they had lending enabled before amazon.

Hmmmmm.... Haven't figured it out yet, might have to try again tonight from home. Sure sounds like a neat idea.

its not as hard as it sounds...when you have a chance go to amazon.com, "my account", scroll down to manage my kindle, then scroll down and you'll see a list of books you've purchased, and you'll see the ones lending enabled.

Great. I needed some snack ideas before heading over to this exhibit. Probably NSFW

I followed your instructions. I got to my list of books, but there is no "lending" or similar word to be seen anywhere.

The only option I have is a drop down menu next to each book which says "Deliver to...." and the options are my Kindle, my ipod, my iPad, or Kindle for PC.

I am in Australia, and there are a number of differences in the Kindle, the books and Amazon (e.g. we have a LOT less choices in books and magazines compared to the US).
This may be one of those darn differences :-(

If any Aussies here know better, please do enlighten me.

Thanks for trying, Joe.

you got to the right spot, but i gave poor directions. click the plus sign next to each book, you will see a radio button "LEND THIS BOOK" for any lendable books :)

Is lending available internationally?

At this time, Kindle book lending can only be initiated by customers residing in the United States. If a loan is initiated to a customer outside the United States, the borrower may not be able to accept the loan if the title is not available in their country due to publisher geographical rights.

In these cases the borrower will be notified of this during the Loan redemption process, and the book reading and lending rights will return to the lender at the end of seven days from loan initiation. You can always check the status of a loan by viewing the book on the Manage Your Kindle page.

Reference this Amazon page on Kindle lending.

that's a good link to know about, Robert.

I just checked the first three pages of my book list and find that of the 45 books on those pages, just 15 are lendable.
