In the last 3 challenges I have had 2 DQ requests. I realy notice that untill the words "This entry has been validated" appear it gets totally hammered.
For example my Extraordinary entry got a DQ request, and untill it was validated was hovering at 4.5. Then as soon as it was validated, jumped to 5.56.
My current entry is doing even worse with a dq request. 4.0. Please if you don't have proof that it is illegal, mark it as if it is legit. (I will admit it isn't my best picture).
Have other people had the same experience??

I have noticed a score of mine jumping considerably after having it validated.(from a 4.5 to a 5.4 and that was having it validated after I already had 80 votes) I wonder if my score would have been even higher had I had it validated sooner. I can see why people might not think it was valid but I will take it as a compliment :)

My extraordinary entry had the same problem. And I did see it climb a bit after it had been validated. I thought the Purple entry would face the same problem, but it just didn't do well for reasons I don't know.

Hi akiwi...

Going throught it right now! First time for me going through the validation process, its not a great shot but nowhere near as low as the votes I'm getting! Positive side is that I learnt heaps from doing it.

I have sent my proof in so it should be validated soon I hope.
Wish I could remember all the edit steps, being inexperienced I work on trial and undo undo undo lol.

I find that as soon as a photo has been validated people automatically think its gonna win and vote it a bit higher then usual. But then again what the hell do know I['m stil waiting for the beer Xion promised me. ooooohh, a chocolate beer???

I've had two shots got through the process with opposite reactions once the "Validated" sign showed up. With the first the score fell dramatically right after the notice. I was shaking in my boots when I got a request for my Proportions shot but the notice had no effect. Since you cannot see your shot as others can I thought that maybe the notice never got placed as there was no change one way or the other. In the end the shot scored my PB.

When I see the notice I do spend a bit longer looking at the shot and I try so see what the "requester" saw that had them tick the box. Sometimes that's a mystery.

As I said. The picture started at 4.0 with several coments "How was this done", Now it is validated, it has climbed overnight to 4.7 :-) I'll make it over 5.0!!

Now I hope people don't try to "validate" their picture just to get a higher score.

I just think it's a sign that you signed up relatively recently and aren't as familiar with all the rules and practices as you will be after a few more challenges. Not submitting won't get you to read the rules any more carefully, will it? Besides, your DQ is over a confusing and subjectibve part of the rules, so not understanding is quite understandable .... On balance, I think you should keep submitting (pun intended)

Not all DQ requests or admin note requests will actually get an admin note. If we think people are 'Playing the System' to try and get a note without needing one or without giving a valid reason for one, we will just validate the photo with a blank message.

However, should the validated photo receive a DQ request, then we will add the validated message as normal.

Thanks for the comment -- I like this approach.

I have requested validation on two entries because both had the appearance of being composites of two or more images.
The validation saves any doubt in the voters mind, but the image will still be voted on its merit. Validation won't make or break a winner.

I been ask to validate 2 time now, and even if i prove that everything is legal and no photoshop have been done, it is still one of the worst score i got....

I thing when people see effect that can be done in photoshop in a picture the assume it was done, hey guys, people take picture before photoshop exist and make some REALLY nice color effect with trick, way better and more realistic that some rookie amateur in photoshop today....

Anyway, my next picture will be a naked girl with dramatic sky, a sunset, a little girl and some flower.... i think it will be a winner this time.... anyway ...!.
