Okay guys, I'm working on a portfolio, and figured I'd ask around here before I waste all my gas driving around trying to find it. Tyvek is a really strong material that's tear resistant, which makes it useful for some elements of book making. It's also that stuff that the white UPS envelopes are made out of. I googled and found out that they make an adhesive tape version of it, which will suit my needs perfectly- I need it to create a hinge between two pieces of bookboard. I see it on B&H, but it's a special order item, so that's out of the question for me.

I saw that there's a tyvek tape available at some hardware stores, but the descriptions are vague, and speak about using the tape to seal tyvek--not necessarily that the tape itself is made of tyvek. Anyone have any experience and can point me in the right direction?

Are these the same thing, but simply different brands?

I've used Tyvek tape and it is not like the UPS envelopes, ie. fibers and strands, but instead a smooth tape that seals the joint in tyvek.

Thanks J.B.

I assumed that might have been the case.
