Was just looking through the news and the pictures from yesterday and last night.
Here in the mountains of Western NC, we feel pretty protected and safe -- in my adult life I can remember maybe having maybe 5 tornado warnings, and of those, maybe one that could be classified as a tornado.
Last night we had two, and ended up in our basement for a while because radar indicated tornado conditions near here.
Fortunately for us, this was no where near the damage some of our TN neighbors got, and Alabama just got smacked hard. :( |

I was wondering how the southern DPC members were doing too. It looks just awful. Scary stuff. My thoughts and prayers are with those affected. |

The same tornado that killed many people in Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed over my house on the east side of Birmingham, but fortunately it was not on the ground at the time. Ended up with debris scattered in my yard from other peoples destroyed homes. Very sad. |

Didn't get bad down here in south Alabama, but definitely anxious to hear from some friends up near Birmingham/Tuscaloosa.

From 2pm until after midnight last night I lost count of how many tornado warnings came out over the emergency alert system...I think I stopped counting after 10. I don't have a basement so my hallway was my "safe place". I live over in the foothills on the Tennessee side of the Smokies. We had one storm unleash some MASSIVE hail in the area...at least baseball sized. I was glad when all the watches and warnings expired around 1am this morning. But Alabama got the worst of this for sure. |

At one point I counted 11 tornado warning at one time in AL, GA, & TN.
We were spared the hard stuff and OK here. Thank God! |
