As a confirmed procrastinator I can assure you that it indeed does, and that it is the kick of stress hormones induced by the approaching deadline which which finally spur action. For some people, a deadline is a necessary motivation, for others it is not. There's hardly any advice which applies equally to everyone ...

I giggled till I dropped. Most of the links people ask me to follow on DPC make me feel horrible about my skillz. This had the oppposite effect. Thanks for that. : )

So true, Paul...I guess the memory of the DPC Olympics bore down on me as by the 12th week I was ready to give my camera a looooong vacation!

As others have said, it's far from effortless. They just make it look that way.


It's not just photography either. I took a carpentry class at a tech school over one summer, and after a few days, I had a whole new appreciation for how easy This Old House made things look. It takes a lot of experience to hammer a nail and make it look easy.
