It has come to my attention rather quickly after being on this site that post production is a huge thing. I cant say I ever really do post production on my landscape or wildlife shots, and am now due to DPC I am trying to figure it all out.
So I was wondering how people would feel about if we posted one image, and those that wish to do a post production (so everyone on the same image). I dont know about the rest, but I think personally I would learn a lot from seeing really what the changes are and the range of stuff that makes it a great shot afterwords. (I dont mean sill post production or anything)
I dont know what picture to put up that would do this well, I would really like to see the benefits for a landscape shot (not HDR) however.
Anyway any thoughts? does anyone have an image that would work really well for this?

You can find lots of images people have put up to see what others would do with them in PP over at
DPChallenge Forums >> Individual Photograph Discussion
I was digging around for Heida's old editing thread, but came up empty.
Its always a fun exercise, but in addition to making this thread, you might want to look at some older ones that are similar. |

About a year ago (can it really be that long ago?) we had a few side challenges where a bunch of folk posted images and then everyone who was playing in the SC edited them. The owner of the image then picked a "winner". It was fun and very educational to see how different some of the images ended up.
Here's a link to the first thread, but if you search PPChallenge in the SC forum you will find the other threads too. Unfortunately some of us (well, me for example!) have deleted those old pics, but you will get the idea.

As mentioned by the others before me, it's something that's been done pretty regularly, both as a side challenge and for individual images. It's always interesting and fun to see what different people do with the same photo, so by all means, post one and you'll find at least a few folks eager to take a stab at it.
Web sized images are hard to do a good edit from, so it's best to post the full resolution shot if you have the space in your portfolio. If you shoot in RAW, you even could upload that to something like Dropbox or Yousendit, and put a link in the thread, for those people that prefer to work from the RAW file.
Oh, and something lizard like can often be expected in one of the posted edits. It's actually an honor. Sort of. Well, maybe more of a running gag.

PP Side Challenge | This is a great idea. It would be good to resurrect it. |
