Shutterfly does the best job for me. https://www.shutterfly.com/ I buy the annual plan, which offers 30% off everything all the time. And, their frequent coupons can add more savings. I've found their paper and ink to be top notch. They match my images extremely well. I do send jpg images and sRGB. But, what I see on my screen (calibrated monitor) is what I get. Also, they do a great job on B&W. I'm very happy with their performance. ( I do NOT like MPIX. They miss on colors and brightness every time I've tried them. Won't try them again.)

Richmond Camera
White House Custom Color
MPix
Bay Photo
Buckeye Pro Imaging

As a DPC Member you can print your own images at cost (or sell at a profit) through our own DPC Prints printing service ...

That said, I do most of my printing at a local Costco, except for some specialty prints (metallic paper) which I get from the Kodak Gallery; I don't like mail-order that much ...

Some Costco photo centers have printers which can handle panoramic images -- I've gotten a 12" x 36" print for under $6 ... I talked to the photo dept. manager at my store the other day, and she said they check calibration and chemistry every morning, and downloadable profiles for each printer are updated every six months. They use Fuji Crystal Archive paper, and now offer canvas prints (by mail) as well. If you are a member, definitely check it out ...

a few things, i wasn't happy with my local walgreens, through snapfish. The first time my prints came out dark and i figured it was my monitor so i calibrated it. Then i sent them yesterday a stock calibrating photo and that came out very dark too, plus the paper was dirty, so i am nixing them.

i prefer to pick up too, but I think I only have the locals to pickup from, target, walmart, walgreens, etc.

I was shocked to hear cosco on this list, i figured if i wanted really good prints i was going to have to go online or find a dedicated print shop close by.

that said, I dont have costco membership and they are kind of far away from me. has anyone tried walmart or any of the other retail shops?

also i was checking out Richmond Camera, and the prices shocked me. I was not expecting them to be so cheap. So right now i am curious as to if i'm missing something. am i required to buy bulk? is there a minimum purchase order?Is shipping really high, do i need to pay an annual fee? just considering that shutterfly is 7.99 for an 8x10 and richmond is $.50.

Costco also has very cheap (sometimes free) shipping for prints. I'd be happy to mail you a couple of 4x6 prints if you want to check out their quality -- just pick a couple of images from my DPC Prints Gallery and PM me or post the titles, and I can print them and mail them (have them drop-shipped) to you.

Or send me your own files (sized for 4x6 @ 300dpi) and I'll have them printed and sent to you -- also, let me know if you prefer the lustre or glossy finish ... better send along a letter giving permission to print too ...

If you make a lot of prints, the membership might pay for itself pretty quickly:
4x6 = $0.13

8x10 }
or }= $1.49
8x12 }
12x18 = $2.99

If you need local, I've had success with my local Sam's Club, too. It's hit or miss, though. The store in the next town over has very poor quality prints... For online I LOVE Mpix/Mpix Pro. They are amazing. I've only ever had on problem with a mounted print and they had a replacement at my door the next morning.
