I'm trying to build an initial wedding portfolio from just a few wedding shoots. I know more depth is needed, but everything needs a beginning. I wouldlike to build a small gallery, maybe 8, from these, which are currently just in capture order. I'll happy to return the favor with critiques or another help I might offer.

Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave,

I like 2,13,4,5,9,10,11,15,16 & 18.

My favorite of the bunch is number 11. I just love the lighting and the stained glass in the background. I also think it shows a bit of an artistic flare which some people look for in a wedding photographer.

Hope this helps,
Rich

Thanks Rich! 11 is my absolute favorite... if I could manage to make a portfolio of that one image I would do it.

Dave,
I am nowhere near a pro, nor do I shoot wedding often, but I will give you my short simple critiques on each picture (Don't take anythingI say to heart :-)):
_MG_1962: Not really sure what the focus is on, could be promising, but my eyes focused on nothing, looks too cluttery
_MG_2069: Too soft for me, would also crop out the people, and clone the green thing on the ground
_MG_2144: I enjoy this shot, the shadows on his face are a bit distracting, but not horrible at all.
_MG_2376: Nothing to say, great shot!
_MG_2377-Edit: I wish her hair was not cropped out of this, would make it better to see ALL of her imo
_MG_2434: I despise the shadows on the wall here, other than that I like it, nice moment
_MG_2434 B&W: Once again the shadows, but I like the B&W better...I would however, suggest flattening her tummy on the color shot as well, was the first thing I noticed between the 2 on changing pics.
_MG_2464: It is almost too dark, but I really like this, a lot
_MG_0848 1: Beautiful, nothing to say
_MG_1172: Another great shot
_MG_1449: Not sure how I feel about this, I like the mystique feel it gives though
_MG_1542 B&W: I like this, would like it more if the top of her head wasn't cut off.
_MG_1214: I like the shot, but the pose looks awkward, hit arm outside of hers looks odd, if his were on the inside it'd be a great shot imo
_MG_1422: Another great shot
_MG_1650: The bride is great here, the groom looks almost to soft/oof?
_MG_2123: Just AMAZING, Love it!

So, in a nutshell rereading what I wrote, I would choose these shots (not looking at what they are again):
_MG_2123, MG_1422, _MG_2376, _MG_2434 B&W, _MG_2464, _MG_0848 1, _MG_1172, _MG_1449

I hope that helps a bit, but like I said, I'm not a wedding guy, have only done 2 and those were for friends. I also don't even really shoot portraits/people often.

-Buddy

Your input definitely helps. I believe a photo either resonates with the viewer or it doesn't. You don't need to be a wedding pro to know which photos grab your attention and which don't. I needed help because I'm too close... in some cases I'm still excited about a certain images simply because I survived the experience.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write all of this down. I should have uploaded to my portfolio here and made things easier for you.
