I got one of the 1's at the beginning, so dropped a bit, now
10 votes and sitting over 6 +
Too me there are only a handful of real "Fine Arts" shots, all the rest are F/S. The Black and white challenge offered a load of better shots in it than this, IMHO.

My submission is sooooooooooo far out of my comfort zone, really have no idea what to expect. I really like it (strangely enough), but its such a different animal to me, I'm not sure it will resonate with anyone else at all.

NOT going to look at my scores.. Dont like doing this specific cliche but I managed to end up doing it for the Dpc fine art thing. Hehe! I such a glutton for punishment.. I hope the voters are kind *wimper*

I never have understood any distinction between 'art' and 'fine art' in respect of photographs, so my criterion was: 'Would I enjoy this on my wall?' And after that: 'For how long?' Thus for 6-7 I'd use a removable sticky hook; for 8+ I'd drill a hole.

This is a very good way to judge this type of challenge. Actually I think it is the best way. I read someplace that "fine art" is something that you would be willing to hang on your wall and enjoy every day. So I think you have hit it right on the nose!

Fine art is different to me. Fine art is something where I get an emotional response from the image. Something that moves me, and if I were to see hanging on a wall, I would take a double take and study the image for more than just a split second. It is an image that would draw me in and let me stay for awhile, either in a disturbing way, angry, serene, calm, disruptive etc. etc.. I found many of those images here in this challenge....my average vote given is currently sitting above a 7 plus. Great job everyone, I have really enjoyed looking at this challenge. I would not necessarily hang this images on my wall, but I think they are deserving to be called 'fine art' photographs (whatever that really means).
