Yes, Skip, thanks. It seems like only yesterday when this brave woman faced all those who placed every obstacle possible in her path, when she was nominated to become the first woman Vice President of the United States.

I hadn't heard that. I'm sad! I saw her on some talk shows where she was arm-in-arm with people whose politicl views were 180-degrees opposite from hers, and she was always extremely gracious, intelligent, and kind in all cases. "Good-bye, hero Statesman. You will be missed!"

And that fairly recently, I think. Yes, she was gracious and reasonable and polite, yet firm in her point of view. I thought then it was something we didn't get to see much of when she ran with Mondale.

In hindsight she was no more qualified or experienced to be VP (who is really just the emergency President) than Sarah Palin was. In fact, at least Palin had actually run something - a state government. Ferraro had never run anything or accomplished anything of note (other than being elected). On the other hand, we have now learned that having experience or a trail of success (again other than being elected) is not a qualification of the job of President - all you need to get elected is hope.

The real hero of this story was not Ferraro, but Mondale and the Democratic party who threw themselves on their sword (in an election they knew they would lose anyway), but in the process did put a huge crack in the glass ceiling. America is a better place for that.

Without Ferraro's experience Sarah Palin would probably still be a moose-killing housewife in semi-rural Alaska, not a millionaire media darling ...

Proof of what Palin deals with each day is in the comment above.
