Okay, so maybe this is a bit out of DPC's league at the moment, but it's simply an idea that popped into my head.

How about a small downloadable program that runs minimised in the taskbar. When a new vote or comment is received it flashes, or a little window pops up (like in MSN Messenger). It could simply say "New Comment, Click here to read" or "New vote received, New score 5.9734".

When not minimised it could be a small window, maybe 150x250px in size, simply showing live score and vote count, that updates without having to click refresh all day.

It could be members only too :)

I think that I like the way it is now. Not that I wouldn't LOVE to have something like that,
BUT, The way it is now, requires people to actually open up the web site. While they are here, they glance at the forums or something, maybe make a few votes. If they didn't HAVE to come to the site to check their score, I think that activity at the site might decrease.
Probably not a good thing.
But then again, who's going to take me seriously with this bag on my head. LOL!! :)

I think people would still come to the site, specially if it were only available to members. (To stop people sending it to non-member friends the login would have to only work for members).

The main use for it would be that when, in my case, you're doing homework, but stop every few mins to check for new votes, you would no longer have to as you'd be notified.
