The bigger problem is storage, as digital gets "bigger" then storage now needs to do a catch up...
I have the same camera as yourself, and only shoot in raw as it allows me far more leeway if I get the content right, but the exposure wrong.
So with a 1 gig card, we're only talking about 150ish shots....
The battery will last at least 400+ depending on settings, flash, etc.
That said, I have two so I could in theory get 800+ shots, but only if I bring my laptop with me, lol.
The limiting factor disk wise has however made me far more "fussy" and I probably delete more in camera now than I used to... Before I would keep everything, good and bad, and then decide wich were keepers and which to ignore once I hit the PC; I also take more time (where applicable) to compose a shot where as before I would shoot 4-5 shots of almost the same thing with different settings and minor time and position adjustments... Digital does allow you to have no waistage "cost" except for time.
