In fact, I think some of the others are more interesting. Mine just helps me put things in a context of art history, which helps me to think about it.

Also, it's only fair of me to point out that the idea of the image as an object in itself is an idea I stole from zeuszen.

We benefit from hindsight when it comes to defining Abstract Art. It will change, just like perceiving history, in time.
The image IS and object in itself. Art is the triumph over chaos (just to quote Cheever). But that's another interminable story.
Looked quickly at the moon and then at some zeuszen pics (just glanced). And I saw these and tried quickly to do a clean up for my benefit. Not too many brain cells used, but here it is:
portraying splendidly the essence of the topic
a true abstract picture
formulaic and speculative treatment possibly leading to a dead end
this is NOT an abstract image, this is the prisoner's dream
in the best photo tradition

We have something akin to that in Ottawa that caused quite a furor a few years back. Voice of fire was and continues to be an issue of contravesy.

I was thinking that I could paint a canvas completly white and call it "Windstorm in the Prairies" are watch the millions roll in. :O)

I did think of making up some paint from poo and calling the picture "This Picture Is [insert rude word for poo here]"
