When using USM for sharpening do you;

- Never, only use sharpening straight out of camera
- Use USM in RGB mode?
- Use USM in LAB mode?
- Use Find Edges to mask a selection for which to apply USM?
- Use a different sharpening tool other than USM?

I'm guessing someone could write a book on all the different varitions possible with using USM. I've read quite a few articles, but still left wondering which method is usually better and the reasons why.

If you know this question to have been asked before, please kindly post a url to it's location.

Thanks,
Garry

I think sometimes the in camera sharpening is too harsh, as for which method, I personally think it is down to the individual. As long as the result is what they want it doesn't matter how they arrived there.
I use USM in RGB mode mostly and have my pic at 100% to see the result.
