i m trying to figure out if something is up with my new camera. i have another week to exchange it for a new one.

on my 60d when i have my 50mm f1.8, with auto focus set to one shot, sometimes when i press the button hallway to focus, it won't, also i have noticed that it seem to be going into al servo, even though im not holding the button and even though its not set. for instance after i take a picture and i move to recompose a new shot the camera will start to focus on its own and then it wont auto focus when i hold the shutter button, it wont beep nothing just take the shot if i press all the way. if i take a few shots it will work normal again and then start to act up. i had it in Av mode with the flash down so its not like the af assist beam was trying to fire, however i did have a wireless trigger mounted but turned off, i did turn the flash fire to disable just in case and it may have fixed things but I didn't get to play with it too long to be confidant. it also did this before when the wireless trigger wasn't mounted.

this only happens with the 50mm f1.8, but i usually only have the 18-135 on outdoors. its seems to be a problem with low light and contrasting light indoors but it doesn't seem to behave as i expect it to. its doesn't beep or indicates it cant focus and the auto focus by itself seems like really odd behavior. my old rebel never behaved this way and I'm not sure if i set something somewhere at sometime to cause this behavior or if something is wrong. any ideas?

well turns out something is wrong. I called Canon and this behavior is not normal (no kidding?) they said to send it in for repair but i just took it back to best buy and they exchanged it, even though it was past the exchange date by a week.

sweet, now i wont be without the camera for a week.

awesome!! I'm so glad it worked out (sorry I missed the original post)

It's so much better just to get a new camera than to fool around with fixing one. :D
