Some interesting podcasts here at LensWork. In general, I enjoy the printed journal as well.

With regards to the podcasts, I recommend listening to "Living with it, revisited" and "Beware the Gimmick".

The first is relevant to our rush to create an image each week for challenges. Without question, my most satisfying images age over time and are refined, usually in the B & W conversion process or other post processing desicions. One reason why I enjoy the side challenges and other personal projects.

The second includes a great one liner, "cake frosting on meatloaf", i.e. Topazing any image or blur for the sake of blur . This was a useful awakening for me, as I've been using my 10 stop ND filter nearly everyday, learning what works, etc. However, I crossed the line and jumped the shark with my silly coffee entry which I shot the evening of rollover last week. I found it effective at first, but it did not sit well with me as the week passed. A great personal lesson involving both of these concepts. I had the opposite experience, ironically enough, with the Librodo challenge. Took my time and left behind the cake frosting. Ha!

Thoughts? Personal experience/knowledge to share?

Maybe not as interesting as I thought. Bump anyway because I like the journal.

I bookmarked em for when I have time to download and listen to them. I used to get the printed copy all the time.

Thanks for sharing.

OK...not from LensWork, but I didn't feel like starting a new thread.

The Candid Frame #113 - Richard Koci Hernandez

This photographer is a photojournalist/professor at UC Berkeley. His commentary on the use of non-traditional cameras is invigorating. He has shown up at assignments with a Holga or iPhone, leaving the DSLR behind. It's long. 50 minutes, but worth the time.
