A very interesting series of photos, taken in the Black Hills around 1890. Indians, cavalry, mines, cattle, sheep, railroad trains, you name it, this guy shot it.

Yes, very cool indeed. I've always been enamored with photos of the old West, not quite out of a nostalgia but at the very different demeanor of the people and scenes depicted. The feeling of them all is very different from anything that came later, a resoluteness and matter-of-factness to the postures of people and the settings as a whole. It's a very romanticized era, for me.
