im about to buy the 60D, i went and checked them out at the camera shop today. after holding the 60d the t2i felt just well, light. the 60d felt nice in my hand, real nice.

anyone have any idea how much i should sell my rebel xs (with the kit lens) for? its less than a year old has just over 5000 pics taken with it. its in near perfect condition.

I personally met and spoke with the head of canon Canada customer service and he saiid that the 60d is just a step up of the t2i and not a step up from the 50d. So evaluate all the features for your personal use and determine if that is the route you really want to take. The50s are dropping in price, so you might be able to pick up a few extras with the 50 rather than getting the 60.

Just a thought.

If you can afford to, you should keep your rebel as a backup body. Cameras do go wrong sometimes.

Get a 40D and save up for a 5d Mark iv :)
Really though 40Ds are so so cheap now and can do pretty much everything.

Get a 7D like I did for just under $1,200 from the Canon loyalty program...get a cheap camera for $40 off ebay to trade and keep your old body as a backup.... my $.02

well im not a pro so i really don't need a backup...plus selling the rebel is funding the upgrade :)

im splurging for the 60d and the 50ds are still a tad out of my price range, besides i really want the articulating screen. i'd be happy with the t2i, but for the the small price increase im getting a more solid camera. jumping to the 50d is still too much.

I promised my wife the kindle if i can get the 60d, what do you think getting a mark iv will cost me with her...??? :)

I was looking at the 60D the other day at my local camera store, and I have to say I was somewhat unimpressed. The guy helping me, agreed with me, that the 60 was not a step up, but maybe a step backwards for that line of Canon. IMO...they took that step on purpose to make that line more affordable, but to also drive up sales for the 7D, and 5D's

where are those prices from and are they used?

They are from the Canon Loyalty program... Refurbished from canon with 90 days of warranty. When someone returns the camera after 100 clicks ant the camera is still new, they can not sell it as new so it goes to Canon and they check it out from top to bottom and throw away all wires an manuals and replace with new. When you get it it is not possible to tell it has been touched and has 90 day warranty only. I figured it was worth the risk and after reading everything I could on the program (including a forum thread that went 150 pages!). I only had seen one person with a bum camera out of about 150 great reviews and they swapped his out. It seems the refurbished failure rate is better than if you were to purchase new! I will never buy a new Canon again! My camera is 100% and I am as happy as all the reviews said I would be! I love my 7D and paid less than $1200 with tax and did not get charged shipping. New battery and plastic on the LCD... I could not tell it had ever been used other than the box that said Refurbished. If I needed a sensor replaced an I had to pay out of pocket I would still make out cheaper than a new camera!

I traided my old broken xt with 400,000 clicks on it and saved over $500!!!!!! Read up on it and do not pay full price EVER AGAIN! My 40D is now my backup!

I actually like the 60d. I like that it turns on in the same position as the 7d. Also uses the same battery as the 7d. Love the articulating screen and it feels better in the hand than the rebel line. I also like the button setup and the new dial wasn't a problem to get the hang of and I was only holding it for a few minutes. I'm considering replacing my 400d so that I have the articulating screen on a lighter rig. Does the madness ever stop!!! (Do I need it ... no. Do I want it ... yes)

12 Grand for a 7D? What kind of loyalty program is that?

;)

Ok so I am intrigued . What does a 50 do that the 60d won't?
02/27/2011 08:59:54 AM · #16
I can tell you that the 7d is duel processor and has a fully redesigned auto focus that seems to work much better in low light than my 40d. It is also weather sealed. 60d looks good but I really like my 7d

I read a really good review this morning that compared the 60d, t2i & 7d. I think the 60 is going to be just fine for me. This just a hobby and the 60d seems perfect for me.

Rats. Here I was thinking I could sell mine for quite the profit and pick up a new Rebel! :-)

Hey Mike.
My 60d arrived yesterday (upgrading the 400d)
Love this camera.
Much, much nicer in the hand than the rebel line and buttons and dials are a little more similar to the 7d.
Hits focus perfectly with all my Canon lenses.
Love the articulating screen.
Great Camera

Will be testing it out tomorrow at a wedding.
Shooting with both this and the 7d.

yeah i love it too, i just bought a handstrap and it feels so natural now, especially with the light 50mm on it. it also "sounds" nicer when it actuates. i do love how all the buttons are right on top, its so easy to switch settings. it feels less like a toy. plus the iso range just blows away the XS, my indoor candids are so much nicer.
