I was thrilled to finally break the 7 barrier with my Color Studio Portrait entry. Special thanks to all who commented! Here's a little behind-the-scenes for those who asked...
Compare my entry to the original. Heida has used burning to great effect, but the reverse can also rescue a fairly bad exposure:

I was going to submit a desaturated version until I re-read the challenge description (COLOR Studio Portrait). I still like this look even though the noise is a little more pronounced.
I had a decent contender with my other daughter too. Sort of a Degas look to it, but didn't feel quite as expressive as the other one (I didn't PS this one as much, so the exposure and color balance are a little off).
And finally, I offer this after-challenge image to suggest that "studio portraits" can also be taken outdoors.
Comments welcome, as always! :-) |

Like I said in my comments, you nailed it! This is a beautiful image and I think the shadow/light play is dramatic. Good job! |

Scalvert...Based on my comment during the challenge you can see that I love this picture and gave it a 9. Had you entered the Vintage.jpg shot in the challenge, I would have given that a 10. I love that more so with the desaturated background. All in all it's a wonderful photograph and you have a lot to be proud about. Excellent photographs and beautiful daughters/models that I look forward to seeing more of in future challenges. Keep up the great work! |
